We know that storing videos on your phone or computer would be very helpful for offline watching - especially for all of you travelling Lobsters! It’s actually a feature we are planning to build into our mobile applications - the possibility to cache a few videos for offline playback.
However, the ability to download video lessons is not possible - as this limits our ability to make important changes and updates to video lessons that will be immediately available - and consistent - for all of our learners taking part in a course. With downloaded videos, users may have different versions of a video lesson that are then not correctly reflected in the assessment questions or learning activities.
If you are running training sessions for your team in group training contexts at your organisation, there are some clever things you can do with your network proxy settings to ensure that videos are cached at your company’s server so that repeat views of the same video do not need to be re-downloaded each time.
